Test rig configured for subsea pipelay study

Offshore staff

HEXHAM, UKRed Marine has completed a test program to investigate the friction properties of pipelay component interaction for subsea pipeline installation.

The contract scope included fasttrack development of a test rig designed to simulate offshore handling and to allow evaluation of a large number of small-scale pipe samples finished with a range of surface textures and coatings.

Test data was recorded in real time using LabVIEW software and processed on site by the client’s team, which was based at Red Marine’s test facility throughout the 10-day test campaign.
