ABU DHABI, UAETata Steel has formed a partnership in the Middle East region with International Development Co. (IDC).

IDC was established in 1978 in the UAE to supply equipment to the oil, gas, power, and petrochemical industries for private industrial projects. It will support and assist Tata Steel in obtaining the national oil company approvals that are needed to operate in the region.

Tata’s products for the energy and power sector include welded linepipe and ancillary products from its UK pipe mills which have been used in offshore projects worldwide.

The company has made various recent investments in its production process, including improvements to its welder equipment, upgraded expander tooling, reelability trials, improved “O” press control upgrade, and investment in a new lap laser at its 42-in. large diameter SAW pipe mill in Hartlepool, northeast England.
