South Pars Phase 17 platform offshore Iran close to start-up

TEHRAN, Iran – The Phase 17 development of the South Pars gas field in the Persian Gulf is expected to become operational in the next month, according to Iranian Offshore Engineering Consortium (IOEC).

Houman Lohrasbi, a company spokesman, told news service Shana recovered gas should soon reach 500 MMcf as the Phase 17 platform comes onstream.

The tandem development of phases 17 and 18 is targeting output of 50 MMcm/d (1.8 bcf) of gas, 80 b/d of gas condensate and 400 tons/d of sulfur.

A consortium comprising Iran’s Industrial Development and Renovation Organization (IDRO), Oil Industries Engineering and Construction Co. (OIEC), and IOEC is charged with developing both phases.
