Converted tender support vessel to start at Oseberg offshore Norway

LARNACA, CyprusProsafe expects the conversion of its accommodation semisubmersible Safe Scandinavia to a tender support vessel to conclude shortly, allowing the vessel to start operations before year-end at Oseberg East in the North Sea for operator Statoil.

Although market conditions for accommodation rigs remain tight, Prosafe believes that the general trend toward cost reductions in the E&P sector will also make more offshore projects economically viable.

This, combined with the industry’s continued focus on asset integrity and maintenance, could create future opportunities.

Tendering activity for near-term accommodation work has slowed down, but medium-term opportunities are progressing with signs that oil companies are looking to step up activity from 2018 onward, Prosafe adds.
