Barryroe license offshore Ireland extended and expanded

DUBLIN, IrelandProvidence Resources and partner Lansdowne Oil & Gas have gained a two-year extension to standard exploration license 1/11 in the North Celtic Sea basin.

This contains the Barryroe oil field in 100 m (328 ft) of water, 50 km (31 mi) offshore southern Ireland.

The extension runs to July 2017, and Ireland’s Minister for Communications, Energy & Natural Resources has additionally prolonged the second phase to July 2019.

Providence adds that the license’s areal extent has been increased by around 118 sq km (45.6 sq mi) to accommodate mapped potential extensions of Barryroe into an adjacent area within licensing option 12/4, which has now lapsed.
