GENOA, Italy – The deepwater drillship Saipem 10000 is in Genoa to undergo refurbishment at the San Giorgio del Porto shipyard.

According to the yard, this is the first time a vessel of this type has come to Genoa for maintenance works.

The program, which will include upgrading of the automation systems, represents the final stage of the refurbishment started this summer at dry-dock No. 8 of Chantier Naval de Marseille in southern France.

It will involve around 20 specialist ship repair companies with around 200 personnel working onboard the vessel at peak.
