Petrofac cancels deepwater vessel contract

Offshore staff

SHANGHAI, China – Petrofac has terminated Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries’ (ZPMC) contract to build the proprietary deepwater multi-purpose offshore construction vessel JSD 6000.

ZPMC says it will take all legal measures to defend its rights and interest and will pursue the liability borne by Petrofac.

The latter did not give a reason for its decision in its statement. ZPMC claims the real reason behind the termination of various construction contracts is the downturn in the global offshore market caused by the oil price.
