DEN HELDER, the Netherlands – The Paragon C462 drilling rig is undergoing inspection and maintenance at the Port of Den Helder.

After arriving in late September, the 100-m (328-ft) plus rig is currently moored alongside the Nieuwediepkade.

Under the four-five month maintenance and repair program, P. Smit will perform construction work, while a local specialist company will handle high-pressure pipework.

Maintenance of the drilling equipment and the water reservoirs will also be conducted in the port. Finally, the rig’s accommodation will be fully renovated.

This is the first rig to stay at the port for such a program in 20 years. Following completion of the program, the Paragon C462 will be redeployed for drilling activities, with a crew of 20-25 people remaining on board.
