Iran concludes oil drilling at South Pars

TEHRAN, IranPetro Iran Development Co. (PEDCO) has completed a drilling campaign through the oil layers of the South Pars gas field in the Persian Gulf.

A pre-launch test operation should be completed in two months, PEDCO CEO Raham Qasemi told news service Shana.

“Following construction of the jacket and installation of the offshore rig, it is expected that the FPSO will be constructed next year in order to start production from the oil layers,” he added.

The Phase 1 program involves drilling seven wells, with a potential initial output of 35,000 b/d. South Pars is thought to hold in-place oil reserves of 7 Bbbl.
