Galp, Kosmos team up for offshore West Africa block

LISBON, Portugal – The government of São Tomé and Príncipe has awarded Galp Energia and Kosmos Energy equal 45% stakes in offshore block 6.

Galp will operate, with the government holding the remaining 10% interest.

Block 6 is in the São Tomé and Príncipe Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) in water depths of up to 2,500 m (8,202 ft), spanning an area of 5,024 sq km (1,940 sq mi).

The partners have committed to seismic acquisition during the first four-year exploration period.
