Flintstone launches new pull through mooring connector system

DUNDEE, UK – Flintstone Technology has launched a new pull through mooring connector system that aims at lines to midwater buoys and to floating facilities.

Flintstone says its new system may reduce the make-up time by 80% or more compared to other methods.

The company says the pull through connector can be deployed on turret-based mooring systems that need to be able to disconnect mooring lines, laydown, and reconnect new lines without the vessel disconnecting from the turret assembly.

Flintstone has continued to say that the connectors, which can be designed for any mooring line load requirements, are installed and changed using ROVs and pull through line from a support vessel. Forged in alloy steel to avoid the need for corrosion packs, the system’s dual axis rotation eliminates out of plane bending while its self-aligning properties dispense with rigging requirements.

The system has been used on the Kraken oil field in the UK North Sea and the Mariner field.
