Suretank delivers control cabin for hazardous duty

Offshore staff

DUNLEER, Ireland Suretank has delivered an A60 control cabin for an oil rig operating in a hazardous circumstance.

The cabin, which Suretank called its most advanced engineered offshore product, can seat six operators at the control equipment with views through safety-rated windows.

“The unit is an intricate piece of engineering due to the multiple alarms and interlocks installed,” said Donal Duggan, Group Research and Development manager at Suretank.

“A control panel monitors every parameter within the unit and will activate a shutdown of the electrical system in the event of any alarm condition. The operators’ safety has been absolutely paramount in the design. If the safety level is threatened the unit will react accordingly.”
