Suncor to drill wildcat off southern Norway

OSLO, NorwaySuncor Energy has approval from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill an exploration well in the central Norwegian North Sea.

The semisubmersible Borgland Dolphin will drill well 25/10-14 S in production license 571, which Suncor operates, in partnership with Statoil Petroleum.

This will be the second well drilled by the partnership since the license, comprising parts of blocks 25/7 and 25/10, was awarded in February 2011, although previous groups have drilled wells in the area.
