ROC spuds second wildcat in China’s Bohai Bay

SYDNEY, Australia Operator ROC Oil Co. Ltd. has spudded the second of two exploration wells in block 09/05 of China’s Bohai Bay basin.

AWE Ltd. also said that the well is planned to a TD of 3,600 m (11,811 ft) MDRT to test a three-way dip closed structure. The well, QK12-3-1D, has two primary stacked objectives in the Miocene Guantao reservoir and the Pliocene Minghuazhen reservoir. A secondary objective is the Oligocene Dongying.

Block 09/05 is in western Bohai Bay and covers an area of 335 sq km (129 sq mi) with water depths from 5 to 10 m (16 to 33 ft).
