Nexans to supply power cables for Nasr expansion project

PARIS – The new production complex for the Nasr oil field offshore Abu Dhabi will be powered by Nexans’ subsea cables, under a €90-million ($100-million) contract.

EPC contractor Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) commissioned Nexans to supply high voltage power cables and infield cables for the field, 130 km (81 mi) northwest of Abu Dhabi City.

HHI is providing engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning for the complex, comprising a gas treatment platform, a separation platform, an accommodation platform; installation of subsea power and infield cables; modifying an existing manifold tower and two wellhead towers and work for power distribution facilities from the existing Das Island in the Persian Gulf.

Nexans is supplying 132-kV XLPE insulated three-core subsea power cable incorporating three fiber-optic elements, and 11-kV XLPE insulated three-core infield cables, also incorporating three fiber-optic elements.

All cables will be manufactured at the company’s plant in Halden Norway.
