The unit will be delivered in the first half of 2018 to the Culzean field, located about 145 mi (233 km) offshore Aberdeen in around 295 ft (90 m) of water.
MODEC is responsible for the engineering, procurement, and construction of the FSO, while its subsidiary SOFEC, Inc. will design and supply the internal turret mooring system. The FSO will be equipped to receive 25,000 b/d of condensate and store up to 350,000 bbl.
"We are very honored to be awarded the contract for supply of the FSO by Maersk Oil. This new contract represents a significant milestone for MODEC in gaining entry into the important North Sea oil and gas industry,” Toshiro Miyazaki, president and CEO of MODEC, said.
Maersk Oil UK’s partners on the field are JX Nippon Exploration & Production (UK) Ltd. and BP plc.
