International rig count rises in August

HOUSTON Baker Hughes Inc. (NYSE:BHI) has found the international offshore rig count outside the US and Canada for August was 270, six more than the prior month.

The largest number of rigs were operating offshore in the Asia/Pacific region with a total of 95, Latin America at 53, Middle East at 52, Europe at 44, Africa with 26, and four rigs offshore Canada.

The count for August 2014 was 315.

The total worldwide rig count for August 2015 was 2,226, 59 more than in July 2015, but down from 3,642 in August 2014.
