Hurricane's Lancaster discovery gets oilfield status

Offshore staff

GODALMING, UK – The UK’s Oil & Gas Authority has agreed to Hurricane Energy’s request for a field determination area for the basement Lancaster oil discovery west of Shetland.

This is now classified as Oil Field Number 572, and represents the first step in progressing submission of the Lancaster early production system field development plan.

Hurricane’s chief executive Dr Robert Trice added: "The granting of oil field status for Lancaster helps the partitioning of Hurricane's other discoveries and prospects that sit within license P1368."
