BP extends DNV GL service to Shah Deniz Stage 2

BAKU, Azerbaijan – BP has contracted DNV GL to provide marine warranty, operations and consultancy services for the Shah Deniz Stage 2 project in the Azeri sector of the Caspian Sea.

DNV GL will support the operator in assuring the project equipment transportation and installations comply with recognized guidelines, standards, and internal requirements.

Shah Deniz Stage 2 will export gas from the field to markets in Europe and add 16 bcm/yr (565 bcf/yr) to current production of 9 bcm/yr (318 bcf/yr).

Charles Henderson, DNV GL’s Marine Warranty Services Team Leader, said the contract would involve the company’s marine, engineering, dynamic positioning, metocean, and geotechnical teams. 

DNV GL has been providing integrity management on Shah Deniz 1 for the past 10 years.
