LONDON – Building on its joint venture with PetroTrace Global, Ikon Science now has the availability to process seismic data workflows using a new high performance computing (HPC) cluster in its UK office. This adds a wide array of pre-stack velocity modeling and processing capabilities required to condition seismic data for optimal performance in advanced quantitative interpretation (QI) workflows, including the latest geological inversion and Bayesian facies classification technologies.
Ikon says that by integrating the processing and QI workflows, the quality of the seismic processing is tested and improved by rock physics, and the intermediate deliverables can be optimized for QI throughout the seismic processing sequence.
“In Ikon’s QI group, we find that many seismic datasets we receive are not optimally processed for seismic inversion. The addition of PetroTrace Global’s capabilities and expertise to Ikon Science quantitative interpretation workflows gives our customers a single-stop delivery for state-of-the-art project results involving datasets that may not have been processed to necessary standards for seismic inversion,” said Friso Brouwer, Ikon Science QI Manager for the EAME region.
