Songa Tryum to drill Sigrun East exploration well for Statoil

OSLO, Norway – As operator for exploration licenses 025 and 187, block 15/3, southern North Sea, Statoil has received from the PSA approval to drill exploration well 15/3-10 on the Sigrun East prospect using the Songa Tryum floater.

Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority also approved a potential side track to the well.

The area where the well is to be drilled is around 180 km (112 mi) west/southwest of Utsira in Rogaland and around 40 km (25 mi) north of the Volve field. Water depth at the site is 107 m (351 ft).

Drilling is expected to start early in October.
