Genel scales back presence offshore Morocco

LONDONGenel Energy is withdrawing from the Juby Maritime license offshore Morocco, after completing analysis of results from last year’s JM-1 well.

The company says it will continue cooperating with Morocco’s government to find the best way forward for its other two license interests, Sidi Moussa (Genel 60%, operator) and Mir Left (Genel 75%, operator).

The SM-1 well, also completed in 2014, recovered oil to surface during drilling.

On the CI-508 license offshore Côte d’Ivoire, Genel is pursuing a farm-out of its 24% interest ahead of a commitment well, currently scheduled to spud toward end-2015.
