TOKYO Operating in the Iracema Norte area of Lula field offshore Brazil, the FPSO Cidade de Itaguaí has achieved first oil production five months ahead of the schedule, according to MODEC.

The FPSO is chartered by Tupi B.V., a subsidiary of Petrobras, under a 20-year lease and operation contract.

Moored 240 km (149 mi) off the coast of Rio de Janeiro in the Santos basin presalt area in around 2,240 m (7,349 ft) of water, the FPSO is capable of processing 150,0000 b/d of oil and 280 MMcf/d of gas. It has a storage capacity of about 1.6 MMbbl.

This is the tenth FPSO/FSO vessel MODEC has provided in Brazil, as well as MODEC’s fourth FPSO in the presalt, after the Cidade de Angra dos Reis, Cidade de São Paulo, and the Cidade de Mangaratiba.
