FMC Technologies to receive first OTC Brasil spotlight award

RICHARDSON, Texas – The 2015 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) Brasil will present the inaugural Spotlight on New Technology Award to FMC Technologies on Oct. 28, at Pavilion 3 in Riocentro at 1600 hours.

FMC Technologies receives the award for producing its shape memory alloy fittings for subsea equipment.

OTC Brasil Spotlight Committee Chair Steve Balint said: “The Spotlight on New Technology Award recognizes the extraordinary inventiveness occurring in the E&P industry which furthers development of offshore resources in safer and more efficient ways.  

“We are pleased to introduce this award for exhibitors at OTC Brasil 2015 to highlight some of the game changing technologies on display at this conference.” 

The criteria for the award was:

  • New - less than 2 years old
  • Innovative - original and capable of developing the offshore E&P industry
  • Proven - through full-scale application or successful prototype testing
  • Broad Interest - broad appeal for the industry
  • Significant Impact - provides significant benefits beyond existing technologies.

OTC Brasil 2015 Chairman João Carlos de Luca said: “I congratulate the award recipient FMC Technologies. Breakthrough technologies applied in deepwaters of Campos basin have now shifted to the even deeper and more challenging environments of the Santos basin to develop presalt giant fields.

“Innovative technologies there have created a fertile and open ground place to be deployed in coming years.”

OTC Brasil will be held Oct. 27-29, 2015, in Rio de Janeiro.
