First CAT D rig due in Norway in October

Offshore staff

LIMASSOL, Cyprus – DSME is expected to deliver Statoil’s second newbuild CAT D semisubmersible rig Songa Endurance early next week, according to contractor Songa Offshore.

Songa Equinox, the first of four identical rigs under construction in South Korea, was delivered at the end of June. It is currently at Port Louis, Mauritius, undergoing crew change and fuelling, and should arrive in Norway in October.

Songa Offshore expects to have outstanding third-party equipment installed during transit to minimize the time spent in harbor at Norway for anchor tests and an acceptance test program prior to starting the contract for Statoil.

Songa Encourage and Songa Enabler should be delivered either during 4Q or early next year.
