Parkmead gains three more UK licenses

Offshore staff

ABERDEEN, UKParkmead has been provisionally awarded interest in three new licenses covering three UK offshore blocks.

All are part of the second tranche of the UK’s 28th Offshore Licensing Round awards.

Parkmead will operate two of the blocks in the west of Shetland area. Block 205/13 is east of the company’s existing block 205/12, which contains the Davaar prospect.

The main play fairway developed on the acreage is the Paleocene Vaila formation that forms the reservoir in BP’s adjacent Foinaven, Schiehallion and Loyal oil fields, and in Total’s Laggan and Tormore gas discoveries. Two prospects have been identified, Sanda North and Sanda South.

Block 205/19b is north of various blocks Parkmead operates that contain the large Cretaceous Eddystone prospect. Nearby gas discoveries include Victory and Edradour.

Biostratigraphic analysis and seismic interpretation suggests the Eddystone could extend into the block.

Parkmead’s co-venturers for both these licenses are Atlantic Petroleum and Dyas.

In the UK southern North Sea, Parkmead will partner with operator Atlantic in block 48/8b, 20 km (12.4 mi) south east of the Babbage gas field.

The Rotliegend Lower Leman sandstone is the main play in this region, as evidenced in the offset fields at Ensign, Seven Seas, West Sole, and Babbage.

Seven prospects and leads have been identified with Lower Leman targets, the most significant of which is the Selene prospect.

The work program includes petrophysics, depth conversion, and reservoir studies.
