Daewoo serves notice over Songa rig contracts

Offshore staff

LIMASSOL, Cyprus Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) has delivered notices of arbitration in respect to the construction contracts for Songa Offshore’s Cat D-rigs, ordered by Statoil for operations offshore Norway.

Songa says DSME has included no details regarding the dispute DSME in the notices. The yard has experienced significant delays and cost overruns during the Cat D project, it adds.

Songa maintains that any attempt to recover cost overruns is of no merit, and the company will defend its position vigorously.
