US offshore rig count down by two

HOUSTON – The US offshore drilling rig count is at 27, down two from this past week and down 31 for the year.

Total US drilling rigs were down seven from this past week to reach 868. Of these, 642 are oil rigs and 222 are gas rigs. Four rigs are classified as “miscellaneous.”

The US rig count is down 992 rigs from last year at 1,860, with oil rigs down 894, gas rigs down 98, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at four.

Canada’s total rig count for the week reached 116, an increase of 18 rigs from the prior week.
