OTC 2015: Brazil touts 13th Bid Round plans

Offshore staff

HOUSTON – The Brazilian Minister of Mines and Energy Eduardo Braga has chosen the Offshore Technology Conferenced to announce the 13th Bid Round for oil and gas exploration in Brazil.

The 269 blocks to be auctioned in 4Q 2015 are located outside of the presalt area and can be explored by any interested company that meets certain requirements, without the need for an association with a Brazilian partner, Braga said.

In his presentation at the OTC, the Minister also announced that planning for the next bid rounds will take several factors into account, including the needs of bidding oil companies, demand in supply service industries, the potential involvement of local industry, and the latest findings from studies conducted by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP).
