UPDATE: PEMEX fire extinguished

MEXICO CITY – PEMEX has extinguished the fire on the Abkatun Alpha platform in the Bay of Campeche, Gulf of Mexico.

The injury count includes four PEMEX employees and 12 contractor employees. Of the four dead, one is a PEMEX employee, one a Cotemar employee, and two not yet identified, according to the PEMEX report. 

PEMEX CEO Emilio Lozoya said the incident will have a minimal impact on production since this is a processing rather than production platform.
