Report outlines potential of Irish Atlantic Margin basins

GLASGOW, UK – Analyst Hannon Westwood has published a new study to support the forthcoming Irish Atlantic Margin licensing round.

Over the past decade in the eastern margin of the Atlantic Ocean, exploration has focused on Norway, the UK west of Shetlands, and sub-Saharan Africa. Western Ireland also has proven potential but has only been lightly explored.

Hannon Westwood’s report provides a first-pass screening tool to grade potential opportunities for further detailed work. It provides an overview of the acreage to be offered with descriptions of discoveries and prospects on unlicensed acreage.

It covers all the Irish Atlantic Margin basins including the Donegal, Erris, Slyne, Porcupine, and Rockall basins, examining drilling history, results of previous license rounds, resource estimates, and in addition covers average prospect size and prospective reserves by age.

“Providing this type of background geotechnical data from historical mapping…saves money, time, and manpower by allowing companies to focus rapidly on areas of interest,” said Ian Norbury, CEO of Hannon Westwood.
