OSLO, Norway – The Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has opened the APA 2015 licensing round, comprising pre-defined areas with blocks in the North Sea, the Norwegian Sea, and the Barents Sea.

Deadline for applications is midday on Sept. 2, 2015. Awards should follow during 1Q 2016.

According to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate, the pre-defined areas have been extended to include 35 blocks in the Norwegian Sea and 11 blocks in the Barents Sea.

Applications can be submitted for any blocks or part-blocks within the pre-defined areas that are not already included in a license up to three months before the closing date.

This entails that acreage relinquished during the application period is regarded as announced at the time of a government-approved relinquishment.
