New UK central North Sea SAR service set

Offshore staff

LONDON – North Sea oil and gas companies have committed £60 million ($89 million) to fund a search and rescue (SAR) helicopter service to supplement national SAR cover for parts of the central North Sea.

Oil & Gas UK has announced that Bond Offshore Helicopters will operate the service over five years from headquartered in Aberdeen and provide rescue and recovery and medevac cover for offshore workers in the UK central North Sea.

The move coincides with decommissioning plans for BP Miller platform, where the Jigsaw helicopter has been based, and which has provided additional rescue and response cover to the central North Sea on a good will basis.
