OSLO, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway has sanctioned exploration drilling on production license 672 in the central Norwegian North Sea.

Operator Talisman Energy Norge has contracted the jackup Mærsk Giant to drill well 15/12-24 in block 15/12 in the central North Sea on the Snømus prospect.

PSA is investigating an incident at the Goliat field in the Barents Sea over the weekend that led to a person falling overboard from the drilling rig Scarabeo 8. The person was subsequently recovered by the support vessel Esvagt Aurora and transported to Hammerfest Hospital in northern Norway with minor injuries.

The area around the accident site has been cordoned off and activity suspended.
