OSLO, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has sanctioned Wintershall Norge’s use of the subsea production facilities on the Vega field in the Norwegian Sea.
This follows the company’s recent assumption of operatorship from Statoil.
Vega is north of the Fram field in a water depth of 370 m (1,214 ft). It comprises three separate gas and condensate accumulations: 35/8-1, 35/8-2 Vega, and 35/11-2 Vega Sør.
The field has been developed via three subsea templates tied back to the GDF Suez-operated Gjøa field processing facility.
The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has authorized Lundin Norway to drill an appraisal exploration well on production license 609 in the Barents Sea, which encompasses blocks 7220/6, 7220/9, 7220/11, 7220/12, and 7221/4.
This was awarded under Norway’s 21st licensing round in 2011. The semisubmersible Island Innovator will drill the well.
