DSME contracts Aker Solutions for North Sea Mariner hookup

Offshore staff

FORNEBU, Norway – Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering has contracted Aker Solutions to provide engineering, construction, and commissioning services for the hookup phase of Statoil’s Mariner oil field development in the UK northern North Sea.

The agreement, valued at more than $188 million, is in addition to a five-year maintenance and modifications services contract which Statoil awarded in June for the same project. Production is due to start in 2017.

Aker Solutions’ UK MMO division will manage the new contract via an integrated construction and completions (ICC) organization with Daewoo and Statoil. At the peak of the offshore phase, the work will engage up to 950 personnel in the UK.

In a separate development, Statoil has awarded Aker Solutions’ Norwegian MMO branch a two-year contract extension worth $49 million for asset integrity management work at 11 Norwegian offshore and three onshore locations. The original four-year contract was issued in October 2010.
