Woodside to explore ultra-deepwaters offshore Morocco

PERTH, Australia – Woodside has contracted to explore offshore Morocco in the Rabat Ultra Deep Offshore area. The exclusive reconnaissance licence was signed with the Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines, the national oil company of the Kingdom of Morocco. The agreement is subject to ministerial approval.

The areas covers 36,737 sq km (14,184 sq mi) and has water depths of 1,700 m (5,576 ft) to 4,400 m (14,432 ft). The commitments on the license call for a 2D seismic survey.

The block is west of the Rabat Deep Offshore I-VI permits in which Woodside has a 25% interest, also subject to ministerial approval.
