Cairn to P&A deepwater oil discovery well offshore Senegal

EDINBURGH, UK – Cairn Energy says operations have finished on the recent deepwater SNE-1 oil discovery well off Senegal, with planning under way for appraisal next year.

The well discovered oil in the upper clastic target, but did not encounter hydrocarbons in the deeper target of karstified and fractured Lower Cretaceous shelf carbonates.

It was drilled well in 1,100 m (3,609 ft) of water, roughly 100 km (62 mi) offshore in the Sangomar Offshore block.
