Saipem awarded new offshore E&C contracts in GoM

SAN DONATO MILANESE, ItalySaipem has won new offshore Gulf of Mexico engineering and construction (E&C) contracts in the total amount of $750 million.

PEMEX has awarded Saipem a contract for the development of the Lakach field, located 98 km (61 mi) southeast of Veracruz and 131 km (81 mi) northwest of Coatzacoalcos, in water depths between 850 m (2,789 ft) and 1,200 m (3,937 ft).

The contract scope of work involves the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of the system connecting the offshore field with the onshore gas conditioning plant. This includes two 73-km-long (45-mi-long), 18-in.-diameter flowlines for the transportation of gas, and a main umbilical 50 km (31 mi) long. Also in the Lakach field, Saipem will develop the subsea, umbilicals, risers, and flowlines (SURF) facilities, which include subsea equipment, infield umbilicals, flexibles, and trees and control system installation. The project will be completed by the end of 2017.
