Statoil to appraise North Sea Krafla discovery

OSLO, Norway – Statoil has approval from the Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority to drill two exploration wells in the Oseberg area of the North Sea.

The semisubmersible Transocean Leader will drill wildcat well 30/11-10 (Krafla North) and side track appraisal well 30/11-10 A (Krafla Main) from the same surface location.

Both targets are 22 km (13.7 mi) from the Oseberg Sør facility and 2.2 km (1.4 mi) from the Krafla oil and gas discovery (30/11-8 S), drilled in 2011.
