OSLO, Norway – The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has authorized two exploration wells.

Centrica Resources (Norge) will drill well 6707/10-3 in the Norwegian Sea – the first on license PL528B – using the semisubmersible West Navigator. The location is 20 km (23 mi) northeast of the Statoil-operated Aasta Hansteen field development. Statoil is also a partner in the well.

A/S Norske Shell has authorization to drill wellbore 6305/8-2 in PL250, 120 km (75 mi) west of Kristiansund, using the Transocean Barents.

This is an appraisal well and only the second well on the license since it was awarded in October 1999.
