Marathon cleared for Alvheim area subsea work

OSLO, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has approved Marathon Oil Norge’s plans for manned subsea operations in the North Sea, starting early next month.

These operations concern the Alvheim, Volund, Vilje, and Bøyla fields in a water depth of 120 m (393 ft).

Det norske oljeselskap recently agreed to acquire Marathon’s interests offshore Norway for more than $2 billion.
