ABERDEEN, UK – Statoil has awarded Aker Solutions a maintenance and modifications services contract for the Mariner heavy-oil field development in the UK northern North Sea.

The five-year agreement could be extended by four more years.

Aker Solutions’ Aberdeen operations will manage the program, delivering the maintenance planning system in the project’s pre-operations phase, and providing support services during hook-up and commissioning.

Maintenance and modifications services will continue after the field’s scheduled production start in 2017.

Mariner, discovered in 1981, is around 150 km (93 mi) east of the Shetland Isles.
