TRONDHEIM, Norway – Electromagnetic Geoservices (EMGS) has a letter of intent from a new customer in Norway to acquire 3D EM data in the Norwegian sector of the Barents Sea.
The BOA Thalassa is expected to start the $2.3-million survey later this month.
EMGS and TGS have agreed to expand their cooperation agreement in the region by acquiring EM data over four additional blocks in the Hoop area north of the Snøhvit field. This will swell their jointly-owned multi-client EM databank to 21 blocks.
In addition the companies will jointly invest in EM data acquisition over 14 new blocks in the southeastern Barents Sea. Atlantic Guardian will soon begin a four-month industry-funded 3D EM survey in this area.
“The expansion of this agreement further confirms the value of integrating 3D EM data with seismic data to reduce risk and discover more in the Barents Sea,” said EMGS CEO Roar Bekker.
