Stauff sensors provide real-time oil monitoring

Offshore staff

WERDOHL, Germany – Stauff says its OCS oil condition sensors can determine the actual condition of hydraulic fluids and lubricating oils in real time, enabling service and maintenance personnel and production managers to carry out complex and cost-intensive oil changes as required by the actual condition of the fluid, and not based on speculation or statistical maintenance schedules.

This increases the availability and productivity of machinery and systems, reduces potential environmental pollution, and decreases operating and maintenance costs for the system throughout its entire operating life, says Stauff.

OCS sensors are designed for permanent installation in hydraulic and lubricating oil systems and, because of their robust construction and stainless-steel housings, can even be used under extreme conditions with temperatures from -20°C to +120°C (-4°F to 248°F). They are suitable for use at operating pressures of up to 20 bar (290 psi).

The optional OCD oil condition display unit shows the values measured by the sensor using a multi-segment LED indicator, which makes the oil condition apparent at a glance and without any connection to a PC. The display unit also has integrated measurement value memory, from which the data can be subsequently transferred for assessment via USB.
