Valvitalia wins orders for Shah Deniz II, South Stream

Offshore staff

PAVIA, Italy – Valvitalia - Vitas Division has won contracts to supply through conduit gate valves (slab and expanding type) for the Shah Deniz II project offshore Azerbaijan.

The company will manufacture around 2,000 pieces of cast steel valves, in sizes ranging from 2- to 40-in., for pressure ratings up to class 900, mostly made from low-temperature carbon steel and stainless steel.

Deliveries are expected to start by the end of the year, with the balance to follow during 1Q 2015.

To accommodate the large quantities, Valvitalia has re-organized its production plant, with an area dedicated to assembly and testing operations for the project.

Additionally, the company is manufacturing 40 pieces of 24-in. class 2500 ball valves for the South Stream pipeline taking gas from Russia to southeast Europe.

These comprise a top entry/fully welded body design, made from high-yield carbon steel with overlays in the sealing areas for corrosion resistance.

Valvitalia is supplying metal seated design valves for the pig launcher and receiver area of the pipeline and soft seated designs for the landfall pipeline areas. It is also manufacturing the actuation and power units, pig launchers and receivers, and special pipe fittings.
