RIO DE JANEIRO – Petrobras has started up platform P-55 in Campos basin’s Roncador field. P-55 is part of the field’s Module 3 project and will be connected to 17 wells, 11 of which are oil and gas production and six are water injection.
P-55, a semisubmersible unit, was installed at a water depth of 1,800 m (5,906 ft), and is designed to process 180,000 b/d of oil, compress 6 MMcm/d (212 MMcf/d) of natural gas per day, and inject 290,000 bbl of water per day. Weighing 52,000 tons, and with an area of 10,000 sq m (107,639 sq ft), P-55 is the biggest semisubmersible platform ever built in Brazil and one of the biggest of its kind worldwide.
The new unit will operate along with platforms P-52 and P-54, which are already installed in Roncador field, and with platform P-62, which left the Atlântico Sul Shipyard in Ipojuca (Pernambuco state) on Dec. 30, 2013, and is moving toward its Module 4 location in the field.
