OMV leads record Black Sea seismic survey

Offshore staff

VIENNA, Austria – OMV says work has been completed on the largest 3D seismic survey to date in the Black Sea.

The 7,740-sq km (2,988-sq mi) survey was over the 1-21 Han-Asparuh block in the Bulgarian sector. Acquisition took 210 days to complete.

A complementary 2,000-km (1,243-mi) 2D campaign was completed last October.

OMV says the interpreted data will assist assessment of drilling locations for two exploration wells planned during 2015-2016. Total will operate the drilling phase.

Water depths over the block extend down to 2,200 m (7,218 ft).
