Woodside reveals offshore exploration, development plans

PERTH, Australia – Woodside plans to drill three wells in the Exmouth sub-basin offshore Western Australia next year.

Its seismic acquisition line-up for 2014 includes programs in the Exmouth sub-basin, Australia’s North West Shelf, offshore Myanmar, and South Korea.

Off Western Australia, Woodside’s Persephone development entered the front-end engineering design phase. This will be the next major gas development for the North West Shelf Project, and calls for a subsea tieback to the North Rankin complex. A final investment decision is set for the second half of 2014.

Last month, Two Seas Oil and Gas accepted Woodside’s offer to acquire a 60% operating interest in Irish offshore licensing option 11/10, comprising blocks 34/19, 34/20, 34/24, 34/25, 35/16, and 35/21. Woodside is finalizing terms for a frontier exploration license with Ireland’s Petroleum Affairs Division.

The company also plans to drill two exploration wells off the Canary Islands.
