GDF Suez gains more blocks close to Cygnus in North Sea

PARIS – Britain’s Department of Energy and Climate Change has awarded GDF Suez E&P UK five more licenses under the second tranche of the 27th offshore licensing round.

All are in the southern North Sea. GDF Suez will operate three, and will partner with Centrica and Wintershall in the other two.

The company hopes to define future exploration targets for new gas that could be taken through its emerging Cygnus offshore complex.
